Chopping down of wood!

I think people killing animals for fur and other selfish reasons like that is just wrong. When people cut down trees, they are getting rid of a source of oxygen as well as killing animals! People are getting better now as they do replant trees but 10,000 years of trees have been cut down in 30 years! Lots of animals are endangered because of this! When people buy new wooden furniture they don't think about all the animals being killed, for that wood!

Ligers

A liger is a cross breed between a male lion and a female tiger. (Not a Tigon, a female lion and a male tiger). Ligers are very rare as it is unlikely ligers will reproduce! Ligers are not hunted because they are very rare and the few that remain live in the world are kept in captivity!

Whaling!

Whales are one of the most beautiful animals alive and they are being killed off for soaps and margarine! It's horrible! These wonderful mammals are on the edge of extinction! In the mid 1900's the Blue Whales were almost wiped out! We have to do something before its too late!

"In the 1980s the IWC banned all commercial whaling, meaning that companies cannot catch whales and then sell them for a profit. However, the commission allowed some native peoples to continue hunting whales for their own use. Some countries, including Norway and Japan, continued to hunt whales commercially despite the ban."

Sad News!

In the past 2 years the West African Black Rhino was declared extinct along with the Baiji White Dolphin. Surveys have found only 4 white rhinos left in the wild! Right now we are in the 'Sixth Mass Extinction' which means a lot of species dying out (around 30,000 a year), but this is the first mass extinction caused mainly by humans! Pollution, loss of habitat and great desire for fur and other animal collectors items! We need to stop this otherwise we will kill the world around us without realizing until its to late!

Polar Bears

Polar bears once common in the north are now uncommon because of global warming and the melting of the ice! In the wild there are roughly 25,000 polar bears but the number is rapidly decreasing!

First Thoughts!

Lots of animals die of unnatural causes each year, mainly caused by humans. Though lots of people try to stop it, others cause it. Some people kill animals for food, but a lot kill for money. Thousands of animals die each day, just so people can look stylish or have lip balm or even have ice cream. WDCS tries to stop marine endangerment.
